SOSHI MATSUNOBE

木材を模した、紙製の立体作品。箱の表面には、正円と直線でできた年輪のような模様が描かれている。木材→紙→デジタルデータという材料の流れに逆行し、PCの描画ソフトで設計、ペーパークラフトのようにプリント・ カット・組み立てという手順で制作されている。大量に生産された紙の箱は集合することで、奇妙な存在感を持ち、私たちに何か大きな見たことのない材料を想起させる。

A three-dimensional paper work that imitates the appearance of wood. On the surface of each box, patterns resembling tree rings are drawn using perfect circles and straight lines. The process reverses the usual flow of materials—from wood to paper to digital data—by beginning with digital design in drawing software, followed by printing, cutting, and assembling the forms like papercraft. When produced in large numbers and shown together, these paper boxes create a strange presence, evoking an unfamiliar, massive material.
